Resistance to taking responsibility, refusing to focus on the feeling I do desire, or the fear that I can’t control the future.
What I trained myself to do over time is to come back to the present moment.
I stopped asking “why” can’t I relax and stay present, and started asking “HOW” can I retrain myself to return to the moment at hand.
I started with red lights and stop signs. Resistance is a perceived block. Red lights and stop signs are blocks to your proceeding. So, I started doing my oxytocin breath---In through the nose and exhaling through the mouth with a gentle sigh as if your brain is taking a nose-dive down into your heart.
I’d breathe and before you knew it I was more relaxed and very present and relaxed. The idea is to take baby steps and notice and applaud your progress. It’s the focusing on the small steps that lead you to the large ones. So, will you start to chip away at your overwhelm today?
In through the nose and gently exhale through the mouth with a relaxing sigh. You can do it. Isn’t it time to kick resistance to the curb and take back your reactions to life through an empowering breath?
