Those pesky holiday food cravings

Think of those foods that just keep calling your name.  Let’s borrow benefits and tap a layer of craving off.  Over the next few days we’ll look at how to begin to control those cravings.

KC: Even though I gave in and ate too much chocolate---I accept what I did and it doesn’t make me a bad person
KC: Even though I wish I had tapped and given myself space to see what my body wanted---I’m willing to become more aware of my behavior---and I’m not a bad person
KC: Even though I acted on my craving---I honor and acknowledge all my feelings and know I can still like myself

EB: No I can’t
SE: I’m a weak person
UE: I’m fat
UN: I have no willpower
CH: How could I be so stupid
CB: How could I be so pathetic
UA: I’m so ashamed
TH: I’m not perfect

EB: Mother was right
SE: I’m bad
UE: It’s all her fault
UN: It’s mine but I don’t want to admit it
CH: I wasn’t a conscious eater as a kid
CB: Too much drama
UA: Food was my comfort
TH: I can change that now

EB: Hating myself is what SHE wanted because she was unhappy
SE: The new me is going to recommit in this moment
UE: I’m not bad
UN: I’m becoming aware of my self-talk
CH: I will not berate myself
CB: I am not my mother
UA: I will not belittle me
TH: I will tap on my craving until I can create enough space from which to make healthy choices

Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth- ahhhh

CB: In this moment of blame I find compassion and awareness and that’s a job well done

When the limiting thoughts come back tap on the UE and say or think: “I don’t have to beat myself up for the occasional slip---I am learning to honor and respect the new me---and that feels real good”

Think of those foods that just keep calling your name.  Let’s borrow benefits and tap a layer of craving off.  Over the next few days we’ll look at how to begin to control those cravings.

KC: Even though I can’t stop thinking of that box of chocolates---I acknowledge my feelings and cravings and want to tap until the urge starts to diminish
KC: Even though I can smell that chocolate in the next room---I acknowledge my desires and choose to explore my feelings as I tap
KC: Even though I’m obsessed with that box of chocolates and all the other holiday goodies---I want to move toward moderation

EB: I LOVE chocolate
SE: It’s better than anything on earth
UE: It’s wonderful
UN: It’s divine after any meal
CH: It’s divine as a snack
CB: It’s the best
UA: Especially with ice cream
TH: Crushed over the ice cream

EB: It feels so good in my mouth
SE: It’s calling my name
UE: I have to have it
UN: I’m good all year
CH: Well, I can deny it from time to time
CB: I can’t let them go bad
UA: Oh the smell
TH: The taste

EB: I have to have it
SE: Why can’t I have it
UE: Just a taste
UN: But then I can’t stop
CH: Feel, tap, release
CB: Feel, tap, release
UA: One moment at a time
TH: I’m so proud of my willingness to tap first

Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth- ahhhh

CB: Tapping and tapping and letting myself have the option to have some a half hour from now if I want

When the limiting thoughts come back tap on the UE and say or think: “I only have to interrupt the craving---giving myself the awareness and space to ask if I really want the chocolate; or is it something else”

Compulsive Overeating Critical Voice

Once you realize the voice may not be yours what do you do?  Let’s
borrow benefits and tap some charge out.

 KC: Even though I’m not sure where the voice came from –maybe I heard my parents say it and believed it I want to change it
KC: Even though it sounds like me and that  I don’t have a choice---I want to change it
KC: Even though it sounds like my voice I want to rethink this and allow myself to change
my mind---it is my mind after all

EB: My critical voice always has something negative to say
SE: It sounds like fact and that it’s hopeless
UE: I think I want to change it
UN: Maybe it’s wrong
CH: maybe I’m just trying to punish myself because other’s made me feel unworthy
CB: And I ran their words in my voice in my head
UA: Maybe it was their stuff and I heard it and wanted to please them
TH: Whatever ---I don’t want it anymore

EB: Maybe I can ask it to change
SE: Thank you critical voice for trying to help me for who knows what reason
UE: I know you were trying to help me
UN: I know you are persistent and powerful
CH: I’d like to ask you to find a different way of helping me
CB: I don’t want to you to be silent just  different
UA: Can you please take on a supportive role
TH: To encourage me eat right and healthy

EB:  To be the best we can be
SE: To know that we are safe
UE: That it’s okay to change
UN: That we can help each other in a positive way
CH: That we can fill up on life
CB: Not on food
UA: That we don’t have to eat to survive
TH: But eat only to thrive

Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth- ahhhh

CB:  Thank you critical voice for choosing to become my ally 

When the urge comes back tap on the UE and say: “I acknowledge you critical
voice and honor your changing to help me.”
